The Victorian Walled Garden
The Donnison School Walled Garden
This beautiful space provides a wonderful refuge from life's daily grind. Visitors can enjoy this peaceful outdoor area, and imagine a earlier time. The space is also used as a seating area for events and community based activities. Volunteers at the heritage centre work hard to maintain this delightful space for visitors to enjoy. If you are 'green fingered' and are interested in volunteering to support our gardening team, give us a call or email us to find out more.
The garden has a variety of fruit trees and in late summer and autumn, these provide apples, pears, plums and greengages. Other fruit include peaches, raspberries and strawberries. The herb garden provides a variety of herbs so that visitors can enjoy their distinctive aromas and depending upon the yield, pick some to take home.
The Donnison School Garden has won several community garden awards over a number of years, including an 'Outstanding' achievement from The Royal Horticultural Society Community Garden Award.
